Playschemes

Please click on the following link to read the restrictions that will be in place BEFORE you sign up your child: Note to parents 2021 regarding Playscheme COVID-19 restrictions

PTE Community Council runs two summer playschemes, the Penyrheol Playscheme in Cwm Ifor Primary School and the Trecenydd Playscheme in Hendre Junior School. After a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Councillors decided to try their very best to run the playschemes in 2021, albeit with some COVID-19 restrictions/protocols in place.

The playschemes are open to PERMANENT residents of Penyrheol Trecenydd Energlyn Community Council ONLY and proof of address may be requested at any time. Unfortunately, children staying at grandparents’/relatives’/friends’ houses during the holidays (but do not permanently live within the wards) are not eligible.

Playschemes will run from Tuesday, 20th July to Friday, 13th August, 9.45 am to 2.45 pm, week days only.

Due to COVID restrictions, registration will be done a little differently this year. Parents/guardians will have to pick up their registration forms, take them away to complete and return them the next evening.

Registration days are as follows:

Penyrheol playscheme registration

Monday, 5th July at Penyrheol Community Centre. Forms given out for PENYRHEOL playscheme (doors open at 6.00 pm and will close when all registration forms have been distributed).

Tuesday, 6th July – ALL Penyrheol playscheme forms to be returned to Penyrheol Community Centre. Doors will open at 6.00 pm and close at 7.00 pm. If forms are not returned during this time, the place will be offered to another child, so it is vital that parents/carers return their forms during this time slot.

Trecenydd playscheme registration

Wednesday, 7th July at Hendre Junior School. Forms given out for TRECENYDD playscheme (doors open at 6.00 pm and will close when all registration forms have been distributed). Forms will be given out outdoors due to COVID restrictions at the school.

Thursday, 8th July – ALL Trecenydd playscheme forms to be returned to Hendre Junior School (outdoors again). Councillors will be there from 6.00 pm until 7.00 pm. If forms are not returned during this time, the place will be offered to another child, so it is vital that parents/carers return their forms during this time slot.

Important note: unfortunately, we now won’t be able to take reserves this year due to COVID-19 restrictions regarding bubbles/staff ratios, so once the maximum numbers for registration have been reached, no more forms will be distributed.

Both registration days will be on a first come, first served basis via a queuing system. PLEASE ADHERE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES AND WEAR FACE COVERINGS WHEN QUEUING.

Finally, there will be strict COVID-19 protocols in place at the playschemes, so please follow the following link to read the restrictions BEFORE signing up your child:  Note to parents 2021 regarding Playscheme COVID-19 restrictions

Despite the unfortunate COVID-19 restrictions, our playworkers are there to ensure the children have a fun playscheme and they can’t wait to see them soon!
